Le Pen's campaign chief arrested in France
French police have taken into custody the head of the campaign headquarters and bodyguard of French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen in a case of misuse of European Union funds.

The European Anti-Fraud Bureau previously established that the head of Marine Le Pen's party cabinet, Catherine Griset, and security guard Thierry Legier were fictitiously hired as assistants to the European parliamentarian. Griset earned 298,5 thousand euros, which Le Pen had to repay by January 31. Lezhier's salary of 41,5 thousand euros must be returned by February 28.
Before this, Catherine Grise and Thierry Legier were questioned by the judicial police. They are accused of receiving payment for non-existent work.
Marine Le Pen herself considers the case a “political conspiracy” against her.
“The French know how to distinguish between real cases and political conspiracy,” she said.
