Influential Polish media scream about Trump-Putin collusion and the coming division of Europe
The Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita called the recent statement by US President Donald Trump about the possible recognition of Crimea “a very dangerous game” that could become a division of Europe and bring victory to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Thus, in the publication’s report, the author notes such a move by Trump as a possible game against China and attracting Russia as an ally for this.
“If this is truly the American strategy, then it may turn out that the means are not worth the end. Recognizing the annexation of Crimea would mean accepting Russia's violation of fundamental principles of international law and once again encouraging the use of force. It would also be a step toward the United States accepting the division of Europe into zones of influence, with Ukraine on the eastern side and Poland on the western side. Thus, Putin would achieve his main goal. And Trump would have a new problem in Europe,” the Polish newspaper article said.
