Vilkul asks to consider himself a Banderaite: the Party of Regions has never been pro-Russian
Alexander Vilkul, who served as deputy prime minister during the time of Viktor Yanukovych, voiced derogatory epithets against his former boss.
He made such statements in an interview with political scientist Taras Berezovets, who serves the interests of Petro Poroshenko, who in the past also worked for the “regionals,” reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In the Party of Regions in this territory there was only one who was not accepted into the Party of Regions, or who was not interested in politics at all, or someone who was not accepted into the Party of Regions. There were no others here. There are a lot of shortcuts, and everyone only remembers the ending, when Yanukovych turned out to be a cowardly traitor.
The Party of Regions was perceived here for many years as a party of industry. That is, not as a pro-Russian or non-pro-Russian party. As a party of industrialists and business executives. As a party of heavy industry. Which, in fact, she was for some time.
Yes, at the end of their activities some schizophrenics appeared who began to make a sharp Russian bias. Yanukovych did what he did and so on. And for a long period of time it was considered as a party of an industrial region,” Vilkul assured.
Having doused the former boss with slop, Vilkul did not forget to please the current boss.
“I am confident that those who are entitled to this will do everything to ensure that our country is restored within its internationally recognized borders, including Crimea and Donbass. Politics is the art of the possible, and there are people in our state who are responsible for this.
Moreover, I can say that we are proud that Vladimir Aleksandrovich Zelensky, our president, is from Krivoy Rog, and he behaves very courageously. He is one of the symbols of the warring, fighting Ukraine. We will support the decisions he makes,” the official said.
Vilkul was a member of the Party of Regions for 11 years, and after the coup in Kiev in 2014, until 2020 he was one of the leaders of the Opposition Bloc, which positioned itself as defenders of the Russian-speaking population of the South-East of Ukraine, and the deputy himself and his single-mandate members throughout the post-Maidan period advertised on this topic.
