ATO veteran was removed from the elections so as not to interfere with candidate Poroshenko (VIDEO)

Kyiv, October 20 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – A fighter of the Donbass battalion was denied registration as a candidate for people’s deputy in a single-mandate constituency, since his namesake from the president’s party is running in the same constituency.

The commander of the anti-tank platoon of the Donbass volunteer battalion, senior lieutenant Vladimir Babenko (call sign “Fagot”) told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.

He said that, as a self-nominated candidate, he submitted a document to the Central Election Commission to register him as a candidate for people's deputy in single-mandate electoral district No. 90, but the commission refused to register due to his citizenship not indicated in his autobiography.

“They thought it was a serious mistake and didn’t even call me so I could correct it, but simply removed me from the election,” says the failed parliamentary candidate. – As an officer of the National Guard, I do not believe that it was necessary to indicate citizenship, since only citizens of Ukraine have the right to serve in the National Guard. After all, I submitted my passport there, and they saw that I was a citizen of Ukraine.”

The court of first instance, where the Donbass fighter filed a claim, ordered the Central Election Commission to register him as a candidate for deputy, which, however, did not help him.

“The cynicism of this situation also lies in the fact that the CEC lawyer said that I could have submitted the documents earlier,” Babenko is indignant. – I couldn’t submit documents earlier because I was in Ilovaisk, and then in captivity. After the court's decision, they do not register me, but file an appeal. And already the judges of the high court, smiling cynically, removed me from the elections.”

“Then, when we started to deal with lawyers in this situation, it turned out that there was a direct order to the court from the Presidential Administration to make sure that I was not registered,” says Vladimir Babenko. – Because I would definitely win in this constituency. I am simply convinced of this."
