Hungarians refused to return a ton of smuggled amber detained at the border to Ukraine
Smuggled cigarettes and amber detained in Hungary will not be returned to Ukraine.

This was reported by the press secretary of the prosecutor's office of the Transcarpathian region Victoria Popovich.
“12 thousand 500 cartons of cigarettes and almost a ton of amber were confiscated by Hungarian law enforcement officers who are conducting their criminal proceedings. Consequently, these things will most likely not be returned to Ukraine. In addition, a Ukrainian citizen was detained there - the driver of the bus used to transport the contraband. He will be tried in Hungary,” she noted.
In turn, employees of the investigative department of the prosecutor's office of the Transcarpathian region began criminal proceedings on the fact of abuse of power or official position, which entailed grave consequences against officials of the international automobile checkpoint “Tisa” and the Chop border detachment (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Let us remind you that on April 27, Hungarian customs officers detained smuggling of 125 thousand packs of cigarettes and 916 kilograms of raw amber in a transport leaving Ukraine. According to the prosecutor's office, the leadership of the Tisa post and department was removed from service.
