The Ukrainian community in the United States has traditionally been supportive of Republicans, but Donald Trump's statements about his willingness to be friends with Putin have upset Ukrainians and other Republican supporters. Now many of them express their readiness to vote for a democratic candidate - with the hope of continuing the policy of sanctions, strengthening NATO in the region and the possible provision of weapons to Ukraine.

This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian service of the Voice of America, Miroslava Gongadze, in an interview with the Kyiv publication LB.ua.
According to Gongadze, the most densely populated Ukrainians live in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Illinois. There are also many Ukrainians in Florida and California.
“Their votes, especially in states like Florida, Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania, which are considered key and swing states, will carry serious weight,” she said.
At the same time, Gongadze noted that the voting of the Ukrainian community has the greatest influence on the results of the congressional elections.
“As we know, all politics are local, and in the US this is especially important. This is a completely majority system. While congressional candidates primarily belong to the two major parties, they are fully responsible and accountable to their districts and local voters. Ukrainians actively lobby members of Congress, and this can partly explain the fact that there is bipartisan support for Ukraine in Congress,” the journalist explained.
