This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by Mikhail Pogrebinsky, director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent . He recalled that the Vatican Secretary of State recently met with the Russian president.
“A month or a month and a half ago, the actual Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Vatican met with Putin in Moscow. This was the first time. And with the head of the Russian Orthodox Church. This is no accident. According to my information, the Vatican is aware of what is happening in Ukraine. And he’s not just aware of, but does not support actions that seem to be associated with the Catholic Church and Greek Catholics, probably too. This means that the continuation of such a campaign also means opposition to the Vatican’s position,” the political scientist said.
