Electricity generation will fall significantly in Ukraine in February
Energodar, December 26 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Two power units of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant will shut down for major repairs in February 2015.

“We will begin the 2015 repair campaign in February. According to the plan, in February power unit 2 will be put out of operation for major repairs for a period of 110 days and power unit 5 for 107 days,” the press service of Zaporizhzhya NPP said in a statement.
In turn, consumers were “reassured” at the Zaporozhye thermal power plant: the thermal power plant uses “gas” coal, which is mined in territories not affected by hostilities. Therefore, the coal reserves at the Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant are sufficient to operate the station in winter.
As PolitNavigator reported, at the end of November the Zaporozhye NPP disconnected the third power unit from the unified energy system. As the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Vladimir Demchishin later reported, the shutdown was due to a short circuit in the electricity distribution system. The first emergency and rolling blackouts in Ukraine were explained by a drop in generation at nuclear power plants due to repairs.
