A museum of the Great Victory will be built in Sevastopol - next to the Church of All Saints
To mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Sevastopol, which the hero city will celebrate on May 9, an interactive exhibition will open at the Museum of Heroic Defense next to St. Vladimir's Cathedral . A Great Victory Museum will be built by next year.
The dean of the Sevastopol district, Archpriest Sergiy Khalyuta , announced this on the air of the First Sevastopol channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Speaking of construction, we are completing a very important project—the Church of All Saints Who Shone Forth in the Russian Land. Just recently, Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea performed the rite of consecration of the crosses on the dome. A museum will also be built next to this church in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
For the 80th anniversary of Sevastopol's liberation, we will open an interactive museum for our schoolchildren and young people. It contains invaluable information for our children and ourselves. Of course, the patriotic and spiritual education of the younger generation is of utmost importance to us. We must understand to whom we will pass on everything we create today , including Chersonesos, churches, and monasteries, not only in Sevastopol but throughout the entire territory of the Russian Orthodox Church.
“Therefore, our priority today is to educate those people who will follow us, who will continue our work,” he noted.
As abbot Vladimir Cathedral, Halyuta added that Starting from Easter, statutory services will be held there daily.
"Divine Liturgy will be celebrated every morning, and the prescribed evening services will be held in the evening . The cathedral will be open throughout the day, from 8:00 AM to 19:00 PM. We will, of course, intensify our museum activities here. The cathedral is a monument to our history, a cultural heritage site, and we all know that below, in the cathedral's lower crypt, are the burial places of our glorious admirals, whose legacy we continue today," the dean emphasized, adding that restoration work on St. George's Monastery and the churches of Inkerman will continue.
