Representatives of the French opposition arrived in Sevastopol to celebrate Victory Day
Inspector General of the French Ministry of Finance and Economy, and concurrently chairman of the French party Republican Popular Union (RNS), Francois Asselineau, arrived in Sevastopol with his assistants, contrary to the prohibitions of the official French authorities. At the city Legislative Assembly, he met with local deputies and offered cooperation. During a two-hour conversation, he sharply criticized the policies of his country's leadership for their lack of independence.

In a conversation with his Sevastopol colleagues, François Asselineau, first of all, noted that according to the official position of France, they generally “have no right to be in Crimea,” however, he immediately added that “President Obama has no right to indicate where we should be and where should we go? In his opinion, there is no need to talk about French sovereignty today. The political elite is completely dependent on Washington, which causes extreme indignation among a huge number of French people.
“I would like to note that President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is now much more popular in France than its President Francois Hollande. This is extremely sad,” stated the French official.
Therefore, his political party, the Republican People's Union, of which he is chairman, Asselino explained, “belongs to a political movement that is in opposition to the existing class that is now in power.”
“We are completely opposed to the support of the policy and, especially, the financial support provided by the European Union, including France, as one of the largest states of the European Union. This is about 17% of all those billions of euros that are currently allocated to Ukraine, including for weapons,” the politician said. In his opinion, France is obliged to withdraw from the EU and NATO.
“Of course, we are against the coup d’etat that was carried out in Kyiv,” Asselino stated about his position.
His party’s website, he emphasized, is the second most visited among all the websites of political parties in France. This, he hopes, will help convey to the French the point of view of Crimea and Sevastopol, which, based on history, boils down, according to him, to an obvious fact:
“Since ancient times, many people have visited the territory of Crimea, different peoples and civilizations, including Russia, since 1783, but I have never seen in history that Ukrainians were here,” stated the French politician.
The experience of history, he explained, also teaches that “the heyday of the French Republic” occurred at a time when it was in allied relations with Russia and, on the contrary, the decline occurred when they became enemies. Now is not the best period in the history of his country, the Frenchman explained, and the further it goes, the worse it gets. The story with the Mistrals, he admitted, generally confuses him.
“Of course, I am embarrassed and I am very sad to say that France is not fulfilling its order, which, moreover, was paid for. The latest news, according to which these Mistrals can be flooded, is puzzling. The majority of the French, based on polls, are confident that France should fulfill the order and supply the Mistrals.”
In addition, he is outraged, like most French people, by the fact that “the official authorities do not want to go to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in Moscow.”
“The reason why I came here is that it may be possible to conclude specific agreements on cooperation between us, which will contribute precisely to the restoration of peace,” he explained. According to François Asselineau, this may affect the wine industry. In addition, he offered to help create a “so-called diplomatic school for teenage children,” within which experience could be exchanged.
Sevastopol became interested in the proposals of their French colleagues.
