Young Russian actresses want to be like catwalk models, but in the end there is no one to play ordinary women.
Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova spoke about this in an interview with Izvestia, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to her, a large number of serial productions of excellent quality are launched in the country, but sometimes finding actors there is a big problem.
“Two years ago, they were unsuccessfully looking for a funny, plump girl of about twenty to play the role of a maid in an interesting project. We contacted the largest production center, but there were none. Everyone weighed 49 kg, they wanted to be like the catwalk models,” says the minister.
She clarified that the situation had to be resolved by rewriting the script - the maid was made 45 years old.
The publication’s interlocutor also reported problems in regional theaters.
“Often in the provinces the troupe is older and there is a repertoire problem. There is no one to play Kai and Gerda. Juliet is an actress over 50. This is unacceptable even in musical theater, and in dramatic theater it does not stand up to any criticism,” Lyubimova emphasized.
