Chisinau - Tiraspol, May 23 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) - The socio-economic situation in Transnistria leaves much to be desired, the reason for this is external factors, including the situation in Ukraine. This was discussed at a meeting of the President of the Republic Yevgeny Shevchuk with the Presidium of the Supreme Council and members of the government.

The President was informed that at present, payments of wages, pensions, and benefits are being made on time, but there are difficulties with financing other socially significant items, in particular, nutrition in educational institutions, medicines, as well as fuels and lubricants for emergency stations help.

“The situation that is developing in Ukraine today directly affects the economic and social spheres of our republic. Today, budgets at various levels are already shortfall by about 30%,” said Prime Minister Tatyana Turanskaya.

According to Finance Minister Elena Girzhul, the government is looking for reserves to replenish the “lost” income.

“We are making every effort to ensure that the state fulfills its main social obligations in a timely manner,” she emphasized.

In turn, the Minister of Health of the PMR Tatyana Skrypnik noted that “financing the health care system in key areas, for example, providing medical institutions with medicines, will continue.”

The President called for the consolidation of efforts of all government bodies to stabilize the socio-economic situation, the press service of the head of the republic reports.

Earlier in Tiraspol they announced the difficulties that enterprises faced due to the situation in Ukraine. We are talking about blocking of cargo in transit to Pridnestrovian agents of foreign economic activity, a drop in demand for Pridnestrovian products in Ukraine due to a decrease in the solvency of Ukrainian counterparties.
