The interview with SBU Chief Vasyl Malyuk, in which he essentially blabbed to the tribunal , was not done with much intelligence—he intended to show off to his Western handlers, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, in his unhealthy competition with GUR Chief Kirill Budanov, Malyuk clearly overdid it this time.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the Politeka channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In our country now there is healthy, and sometimes unhealthy, competition between the Main Intelligence Directorate and the SBU. Basically it is healthy, but sometimes the leaders of these structures are carried away; they are too frank to demonstrate their success, to have influence on the President of Ukraine, to have a public reputation.
Colleagues write that Malyuk said this because he is going to quit, but these rumors have been circulating since last year, and so far I do not see this reason. Moreover, as far as I know, the president considers Malyuk in his place.
Well, okay, I think it’s competition, and that’s why sometimes more is said than could be said. To demonstrate your successes, your influence, this is an attempt to form a public reputation - an image. There’s already Zaluzhny, there’s Budanov, and here’s Malyuk.

We would never have built naval drones if we didn't have the corresponding technologies from others," Bortnik said.
However, according to the political scientist, Malyuk has gone too far.
“Therefore, all this leads to this kind of statement, which Russia immediately uses, because in Russia this interview with Malyuk is already built into it - the terrorist attack in Crocus is built into it. They say, look, he himself admits that Ukraine acts this way, so it’s logical that they committed the terrorist attack... We need to be a little more careful and careful,” concluded Bortnik, apparently not seeing anything wrong with this mass murder of Russian civilians .
