Moscow proposed not to recognize elections in California and Texas
With its statement about the non-recognition of elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, the US State Department may provoke Russia to take retaliatory steps - refusal to recognize elections in some states of America.
Political analyst Konstantin Strigunov stated this at a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The US State Department stated: “We do not recognize the holding of elections to the Russian State Duma on the sovereign territory of Ukraine and confirm our continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.”
This position of the American authorities clearly indicates their readiness not to recognize elections to the State Duma throughout Russia and certainly do not recognize it in the territory of two federal subjects - the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol. All this points to open interference in Russia’s affairs and non-recognition of its territorial integrity,” he said.
Konstantin Strigunov emphasized that now Russia may not recognize the American elections in some US territories.
“In general, we might as well not recognize the elections to Congress and the US President in those states that the Americans took from Mexico by force during the war.
Only, unlike what happened then, the reunification of Crimea and Russia occurred as a result of the will of the Crimean people and in full compliance with international law,” said Strigunov.
