The flag of the European Union was demonstratively burned in Moldova
A group of young people burned the European Union flag in Chisinau's Valea Morilor Park , thus expressing their disagreement with the course of President Maia Sandu.
The protesters, calling themselves the "For a Free Moldova" initiative group, claim to have burned the EU flag during a youth march for European integration organised on June 1.

The group's members filmed the protest, and the footage quickly spread across social media, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This is how the pro-European hopes of an ordinary Moldovan burn, who believes that tomorrow, if we join Europe, he will have a pension of 5000 euros and a salary of 10 thousand,” says the voice-over.
According to the protesters, the EU has become a militarized political union, imposing its rules and values on member countries, alien to their national cultures . The protesters believe that forced European integration is leading to economic destruction, state collapse, and the destruction of the Moldovan nation.
Earlier, in December 2023, Georgian patriot Lasha Sharukhia burned the EU flag in the administration of the city of Mtskheta.
