This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Anna Starostenko, the press service of the Kyiv city administration reports.
“Kiev city authorities appeal to parents not to buy textbooks according to the new curriculum for grades 4 and 7 and to inform them of the facts when school directors and teachers demand to purchase them themselves. After some time, the textbooks will be printed and appear in school libraries for free use,” the official noted.
She recalled that all textbooks for the new school curriculum must be printed at the expense of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. However, due to the difficult situation in the country, it was decided to shift 50% of the amount to local governments.
To provide the capital's 4th and 7th grade schoolchildren with textbooks, more than UAH 27 million is needed. According to the decision of the Kyiv City Council dated September 3.09.2015, 13,6, half of the required amount was allocated from the city budget - XNUMX million UAH, so that schoolchildren had the opportunity to study using new textbooks.
At the same time, the mechanism for paying for the printing of textbooks remains unclear.
“We hope that this problem will be solved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in the near future. By this time, we ask parents, teachers and students to treat the problem with understanding. In addition, teachers will still give all the material that is missing in old textbooks to children,” stressed Anna Starostenko.
