An action was held in Kyiv with “Putin” praising Zelensky for the Russification of TV
The action “For TV in Ukrainian!” took place under the walls of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the purpose of which was to draw attention to the need to implement the law on total Ukrainization of Ukrainian television channels.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this from Kiev.

The organizer of the event, which was attended by several dozen people, was the community “Language Unites.
In their hands, the participants held posters with the inscriptions: “We demand the implementation of the Language Law!”, “For TV in Ukrainian!”, “Which country does the Cabinet of Ministers work for?”

The performance performed by the activists was intended to demonstrate the failure to comply with the norms of the language law.
One of the participants in the performance, wearing a bulletproof vest and a mask of Russian President Vladimir Putin, sat on a chair with a huge remote control on which the names of Ukrainian TV channels were written.

The artist read out the TV channels’ programs and praised them for the fact that the TV channels show Soviet and Russian films, as well as Ukrainian Russian-language shows.

“For six months now, Ukrainian TV channels have not complied with the language law. During this time, television channels showed hundreds of Russian, hundreds of Russian-language films, hundreds of hours of Russian-language films and TV series that Russify Ukraine and grossly violate the language law. Two years ago, the government should have brought all normative and legal acts executed by executive authorities into conformity with the language law.
In particular, this concerns Goskino, which is now subordinate to the government, and this concerns the National Council. Meanwhile, Goskino issues distribution certificates for films that violate the law. Goskino is guided by an outdated procedure for issuing rental certificates. Films such as “Matchmakers,” which are shown on both the Ukrainian channels “1+1” and the First Russian Channel, receive distribution certificates,” said one of the organizers, Sergei Osnach.
According to him, the current government of Ukraine is close to the production of Russian-language films and TV series.

“She really wants to show in Ukraine what they sell to Russia,” says the organizer of the event.

He recalled that already during Zelensky’s presidency, “Servant of the People”, “Daddy”, and “Matchmakers-7” were shown on Russian TV channels. Now Ukrainian TV channels continue to produce films in Russian, although they understand that these films will violate the language law.
“They received a clear signal from the authorities that they will not be punished for this. The National Council immediately withdrew and simply does not pay attention to the violation of the language law by television channels. Goskino simply issues new rental certificates and does not cancel the old ones. That’s why all these Russian-language films remain on screens,” Osnach said.
Activists demanded that the government bring the entire regulatory framework that guides the highest executive bodies into compliance with the language law.

“Goskino should be guided by new norms, first of all, by the law on language, and remove from the screen all Russian-language films that form one people from Ukrainians and Russians. This is the Kremlin’s strategic goal, as Putin has repeatedly stated,” Osnach concluded.
