A possible replacement for Nazarbayev has been named in Kyiv
The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, prepared in advance for his resignation and, before leaving office, previously agreed with China and Russia on the name of his replacement.
This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian politician and presidential candidate Roman Bessmertny, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Bessmertny, we are talking about Samat Abish, Nazarbayev’s nephew, who may become the next president of Kazakhstan.
“Nazarbayev treats Abish with great sympathy and patronage. He constantly promoted him and gave him the opportunity to gain experience in matters of economics and national security. Moreover, as individual data indicate, Nazarbayev consulted and held certain conversations on this topic in both Beijing and Moscow. Conversations about Abish often arose in those capitals with which Nazarbayev has built systemic relations,” he noted.
At the same time, Bessmertny draws attention to the fact that within the Nazarbayev clan itself there is competition between three groups. One of them is focused on his younger brother, the other on his daughter Dariga. “If Abish runs for president from the Nazarbayev clan, then it is obvious that he will have no competitors,” the politician added.
He suggests that the urgency of Nazarbayev's resignation is due to health reasons. “I think this should be linked to the urgency of the reshuffle, so that power can be transferred calmly and there are no shocks,” the politician noted.
In addition, Bezsmertny believes that there is no talk of destabilizing the situation in the country, because “Kazakhstan has a large volume of Chinese, Japanese and Russian capital, which needs peace and stability.” In his opinion, Nazarbayev himself would not have taken such a step if there had been any threat to the country.
