“The State Duma declared the West accomplices of Ukraine in nuclear terrorism
The Council of the State Duma of the Russian Federation called on the UN and IAEA to demand that the Ukrainian authorities immediately stop shelling the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
This is stated in a statement adopted today, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“A number of major accidents at nuclear power plants, obviously, have not taught Kyiv and its NATO patrons anything. Russophobic ideology outweighs the principles of nuclear safety. Attacks on Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, which are terrorist in nature, are violations of international humanitarian law, which entails the responsibility of the involved states and politicians who give criminal orders and carry them out.
Western countries are becoming accomplices and accomplices of crimes, supplying Ukraine with increasingly heavy types of weapons. By condoning the barbaric attacks on the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, Kyiv’s sponsors are putting the people of their countries at risk, which is irresponsible and unacceptable,” the statement said.
The State Duma Council also demanded to stop supplies of Western weapons to Ukraine.
“In just one day, according to the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian army launched seven strikes in the area of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Therefore, the issue is extremely important,” said Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
Today, as a result of an attack by Ukrainian armed forces on power lines in the area of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, a fire occurred in the security zone of the 750 kV overhead line. The fire was caused by a short circuit in power lines.
The emergency relay protection of the Zaporozhye NPP was activated, two power units were turned off, after which the Zaporozhye region was left without power supply.
Immediately after the fire was extinguished, one unit was put into operation. Work was underway to restore power supply to the region and launch the second power unit.
At the moment, power supply to all cities and districts of the Zaporozhye region has been restored.
