Moscow – Kyiv, February 16 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Shtamm) – While Ukrainian businessmen and bureaucrats are buying up houses in Italy and Germany to escape when the going gets tough, many of their citizens are seeking work in the EU. Meanwhile, they try to call themselves Russians rather than Ukrainians: Europeans are tired of official sympathy for Ukraine and have begun to disapprove of Ukrainians, considering them idiots, writes Vzglyad.

Ukraine's wealthy pro-Western elite are preparing to leave their native shores, buying housing in Europe and North America. This led to a 30% increase in purchases of houses and apartments abroad, notes the consulting company City Development Solutions. At the same time, 3-4 times more citizens are engaged in a frantic search for foreign houses than in 2013, the publication writes.
However, fatigue with Ukraine and irritation with its authorities will grow in the West, the online newspaper warns. “Ukrainian home buyers in the EU should understand that in Europe in a few years they may ask for a lot,” writes Vzglyad. “You won’t be able to get away with bribes, and it’s impossible to guess what kind of administration will be in Kyiv by that time.” It is only clear that the Maidan party will not hold out indefinitely: due to its fault, things in the country’s economy are too bad. Therefore, it is best for Ukrainian buyers of foreign housing to stay away from the European market.”
