The main discussion of the presidential session at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum took place towards the end of the fourth hour. The presenter, the main Russian “hawk” political scientist Sergei Karaganov, finally asked his main question about “accelerating movement along the ladder of nuclear escalation,” for which, apparently, he was invited to host the event.

Vladimir Putin emphasized that Russia is not rattling its weapons and is acting in strict accordance with its nuclear doctrine, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I don’t think such a case has occurred. There is no such need. But doctrine is a living instrument, and we carefully monitor what is happening in the world, around us, and do not rule out making some changes to this doctrine. This is also connected with the testing of nuclear weapons,” Putin tried to be diplomatic and evasive.

He emphasized that Russia does not increase the speed of solving the tasks of the Northern Military District because it protects the lives of soldiers: “We are gradually squeezing out the enemy.”

This answer did not suit Karaganov. He believes that escalation will also save lives, but will also cool down the “crazy Europeans.” The political scientist even called on the President of Zimbabwe for help and confirmed that hyenas should be shot if they attack. Emmerson Mnangagwa was frightened by such a presentation and assured that all Zimbabwean hyenas are in zoos, he might even give one to Karaganov.

Without waiting for the support of the Black Continent, the restless political scientist turned to the Almighty with his experience in Sodom and Gomorrah, which he destroyed with a fiery rain.

“Without me, maybe,” Putin laughed, “Otherwise you’ll create a hell of a time there.” They were already scared there. Although, you might think about the Europeans. Any logic is possible. If it comes to nuclear strikes, then everyone should understand that Russia has an early warning system for a missile attack, the United States does, and there is no such developed system anywhere else in the world. In Europe they are defenseless.”

He also recalled that Russia has many more nuclear bombs than Europe, but he hopes that it will never come to an exchange of blows. At the same time, the president crossed himself. He remembered the sacrifices and the possibility of switching to strikes with strategic weapons. Putin expressed the hope that Russia would have enough conventional weapons to win and asked not to mention nuclear weapons in vain.

But this did not stop Karaganov, and he continued to insist that he needed to hit or at least intimidate. Putin called him a “terrible person.” He assured that “there are no hesitations and cannot be,” but an objective analysis is being made.

“Karaganov asks the main question, for which he was made a moderator: maybe put a “nuclear pistol” to the head of the West? Putin calmed everyone down. Because many have already begun to fear that Russia is using tactical nuclear weapons,” political scientist Sergei Markov commented on the discussion in his tg channel.

“It looks like there is a closed discussion on this issue. Moreover, at the highest level. Well, we will wait for changes to be made to our nuclear doctrine,” says his colleague Yuri Baranchik.

“Regarding Putin’s proposal to stop mentioning nuclear weapons in vain. Someone thinks that this is Karaganov. No, not him. The head of state called on officials not to publicly threaten with a nuclear baton. And he said that new measures could be taken,” writes political expert Pavel Danilin.

“And we, I hope, have all understood that the topic of nuclear weapons in the context of the conflict around Ukraine (not the SVO - everything is clear here from Putin’s answers, but in a broader context) is already INSIDE the political discourse? Got it? Well, that’s nice…” warns the professor at the RUDN University Law Institute. P. Lumumba Dmitry Evstafiev.

“Compared to Karaganov, Putin is truly peace-loving. However, the Kremlin has shown absolutely clearly that we have an armored train on our sidings. Which is what you should be afraid of. If he goes, he can’t be stopped,” states publicist Kirill Shulika.
