Footage of drone strikes on Russia has inspired Ukrainians, but the euphoria is deceptive – the Russian army continues to push through the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defenses, where the infantry is melting away every day, and there is no one to cover the Belarusian front.
Ukrainian volunteer Roman Donik, who assists the Ukrainian Armed Forces, writes about this in his blog .
"Let's lift our rose-colored glasses a little ... It's very harmful to look in one direction—only where we are successfully destroying oil production and processing infrastructure—and completely ignore the enemy's certain successes on the ground and the development/expansion of enemy attacks on our logistics and roads.
We watch videos of defeats, queues at gas stations, Russians' hysteria, and it lifts our spirits... We've been waiting for this since '22, and this was our only chance to save the state and win. And now it's begun.
But... but due to fatigue and a long wait, most of us perceive the beginning of the processes that are just beginning to rock Russia as an almost unconditional victory.
There are a few buts. And they're not very encouraging for us.
There will always be fuel for war in Russia. It won't be anywhere, and the army will be provided for. Unlike us. Because here, the first thing we save on is the military, so as not to upset the electorate. They've already started saving on fuel.
… People will be transported by bus to important defense industry facilities and critical infrastructure. They'll hold out for a while, if they decide to go all the way.
" And our goal remains unchanged: to hold out one day longer ," writes Donik.
According to him, the Russian Armed Forces “ have made progress in ground (and not only) advancement in areas that are important to us .”
"Part of the Kharkiv region and Kharkiv's suburban areas and roads are periodically under enemy fire. Highways toward Sumy and the Chernihiv region are affected. And the zones of influence of Russian drones are deepening and spreading."
This is not of interest to most people who do not live in these regions.
But the enemy is actually implementing its plans for the "dead" scorched zone on the border. Not as quickly as they'd like, but they are. And they have no intention of stopping.
The same is true for the access to the borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The plans haven't changed, and they are being implemented. Not at the pace the Russians promised, but they are being implemented," the author lists.
However, according to Donik, “ this is not even the most important and threatening thing .”
"We rejoice at the disconnected repeaters in Belarus and naively believe that Lukashenko has become frightened and is almost ready to abandon Russia. But that's not true. Belarus survives only thanks to Russia."
And if Russia proposes an option that requires fooling Ukraine and then delivering a single, guaranteed blow that, according to their plan, will turn the tide of the war, Lukashenko will play this role...
What am I talking about? Belarus is building military infrastructure with Russian funding. There will be bridges across which troops can be deployed. There will be roads…
Cutting off our logistics and supplies from the West has been a fixed idea since the very first days of the invasion. It's very logical and 100% effective.
The likely direction of attack is Kovel – Manevichi – Sarny – Korosten – Chernihiv. And then to the maximum possible depth.
Will we be able to defeat the enemy with the technical resources we have, either en route or in the staging cities in Belarus? We can. Will we be able to dismantle tank regiments en route and dismantle bridges? With the weapons we have today, of course we can. On one condition: that there are those who will use these weapons. Without weakening the south and east.
If we remove something from the south, the south will crumble. If we remove something from the east, the east will crumble . If we stop striking deep, they will quickly recover.
We don't have any free people right now. There's no territorial defense or volunteers who closed off the capital and logistics routes from the north in 2022.
Those who always say, “I will fight when the enemy comes to my city,” will not fight.
"Simple math. The law of conservation of energy. For something to increase, you have to take it from somewhere else, and then it will decrease. Is there anywhere to take it from the front? Are there secret reserves? I personally doubt it ," writes Donik.
