Ukrainian writer-Maidan activist was detained in Minsk for involvement in terrorism
On the night of February 10-11, the Ukrainian writer of nationalist views Sergei Zhadan was taken to the police station in Minsk, where he was stamped with a ban on entry into Belarus.

“And here is a funny story that happened to me today in Minsk. Around two in the morning, a police patrol came to my hotel room - serious and concentrated. Without explaining anything, they took me to the department, started searching the base, but found nothing. They called the KGB. There they were advised to go to another department, Leninsky. In Leninsky they checked the database again, and finally they explained - it turns out that back in 2015 I was banned from entering the territory of the Russian Federation (what a shame) with the wording “for involvement in terrorist activities.” And since Belarus and Kazakhstan are in the same visa zone with the Russian Federation (unlucky), the ban automatically passes to Belarus and Kazakhstan,” he wrote.
According to him, he had to spend the night in a cell.
“In the morning they spent a long time writing explanatory notes and asking about terrorism. In the end, they put a stamp banning entry into Belarus for an indefinite period,” the writer said.
In turn, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported that the Ukrainian Consul in Belarus is currently clarifying the circumstances and reasons for Zhadan’s detention.
“The Consul of Ukraine in Belarus is now clarifying the issue. He is checking the information and finding out the circumstances and reasons for the detention,” said the head of the consular service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Vasily Kyrylych.
Let us recall that Sergei Zhadan actively supported the Maidan and personally participated in clashes in Kharkov between anti-Maidan activists and Right Sector activists.
