Ukrainian commander: Distribute weapons to everyone, prepare young people for war with Russia
To counter “Russian aggression,” the population throughout Ukraine must undergo military training.
This opinion was voiced by the first commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Krivonos, on the YouTube channel “KRYM”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“The retinue rules the king. With all the positive things that Poroshenko did to create the Special Operations Forces, he has great honor and respect for this, but, meanwhile, the retinue that surrounds him very often discredits this king, this president, with their actions. It is necessary to work not only with the environment that created a separate “fairy tale” of the existence of the Ukrainian army, the Ukrainian state in conditions of war, but also to clearly understand that there are a large number of issues that require solutions.
In 5 years, we had to create a system that would make Russian attempts to carry out direct aggression impossible. And we have a rather serious problem of direct aggression by the Russian Federation, we are constantly intimidated by this, constantly blackmailed by this - both the West and our leadership directly, as well as the Russians, without saying it openly, but constantly accumulating forces and means along our borders. There is a possibility. And to avoid this possibility, a protection system should have already been created.
We have developed such a program. We have it. It's called "Five Steps to Success." This program identifies five components that need to be changed in the state as soon as possible, and the military component, the Armed Forces, is not such a large number, about 15%.
The main thing that the Russian Federation must understand is that in the event of open aggression, continuous resistance from all places, with all possible forces and means on the part of the Ukrainian people, will be carried out around the clock, for months, for years. The earth will burn. And these small targeted strikes, which will be carried out by trained people from different sides, will greatly irritate the Russian electorate, and this will be almost on the same level, and maybe even worse, than the First Chechnya was for the Russian army.
Our people must be armed. With rifled weapons. This is one of the points of my program and, directly, this is the main task. When a person has a weapon, he feels confident, of course, and the person’s responsibility grows, but he also grows into a conscious, free citizen.
We are raising the issue of arming those who are capable and willing to take part in territorial defense. First of all. At the first stage, I see this only regarding the Defense Union, which can be created according to the principle of the Estonian Defense League.
We understand perfectly well that the Russians may not occupy the territory of Ukraine, shake up the situation from inside and outside in order to destabilize the situation, make normal development impossible for us - I absolutely agree with this. But if we don’t prepare for a possible war, a simple war, because the Russian army’s ability to launch an offensive is very fast, will we have time?
Twenty years of independence we were told that there would never be a war with the Russians. Were we ready for this war? No. Because we didn’t prepare people,” Krivonos explained his strategy.
“Task number one for Ukraine now is to raise a completely new generation, a young generation with new historical, patriotic and national ideas, values - which will be able in 10-15-20 years to replace all of us who are at this stage patriots and engines of future development Ukraine. Then the question will no longer be what language you speak, what you do,” the Ukrainian commander concluded.
