The presidential elections in Ukraine have become “the elections of an angry man in the street.”
Political scientist Andrei Ermolaev announced this today at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The losses of the war, labor migration, the hardships faced by the older generation - all this creates a conservative and vengeful mood. This is how I explain the Zelensky phenomenon. This is an indicator of readiness with a bullet in your pocket to take revenge on everyone who deceived you these five years. This is a symbol of philistine tension and the desire to take revenge at any cost,” Ermolaev said.
The political scientist called the leadership of actor Vladimir Zelensky in the election race “a phenomenon of willingness to jump into the abyss.”
“I am alarmed by the irrationalism of the Ukrainian electorate on the eve of these important elections. If the elections are held without serious social innovations, then this means a movement towards Ukraine without Donbass and Crimea, with decisions already made on the Western vector and language. This is already a corridor. These elections could become a Rubicon,” the political scientist noted.
