Ukrainian media silenced Nazi calls for pogroms and massacres of “Muscovites”
Despite the promises of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to prevent the incitement of a religious war, there are already calls among Ukrainian radicals to seize the churches of the UOC MP, in particular the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. However, the Ukrainian media were given the command to hush up the announced pogroms and massacres.
The Hromadske TV reporter, who was broadcasting live from today's UPA march in Kyiv, admitted that the nationalists had already called for violent actions against the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There are quite resonant sentiments in society, given that after the Ecumenical Patriarchate granted autocephaly to Ukraine, certain groups of society had certain sentiments, like, let’s try to transfer the churches of the Moscow Patriarchate by some violent method to the United Local Church, there were calls to go to the Lavra “he said, adding that information is already being received about arrests near the main monastery of Kyiv.
However, it seems that the task of Hromadska TV was not to show the whole truth about today’s march of nationalists - its participants should have been presented not as radicals sowing ethnic hatred, but as heroic defenders of Ukraine from the “occupiers.”
As a result, the reporter said that his colleagues “will not broadcast violent calls, and let’s hope that everything there (in the Lavra - ed.) will be normal.”
The Ukrainian editorial office of Radio Liberty, sponsored by the US State Department, did the same. During the live broadcast, the reporter recorded how militants of the C14 group participating in the UPA march on Khreshchatyk chanted a chant calling “Muscovites - to the knives!”
An employee of Radio Liberty immediately moved away from the militants, saying that the editorial office “does not support violence.”
“The action is taking place calmly, civilly, peacefully,” a reporter from the American publication reported a few minutes later.
