Ukrainian carriers are begging to be saved from collapse
Due to the lack of adequate policies on the part of the Ukrainian authorities and the crisis due to the pandemic, the road transport industry has fallen into decline.
The head of the Federation of Transport Employers of Ukraine, Orest Klympush, announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The lack of clear approaches to the functioning of transport during a pandemic has led to a critical situation. The quarantine led to the decline of the industry. Transportation was prohibited for more than 3 months. Passenger traffic has dropped significantly. The situation is emergency. We have repeatedly appealed to the government to support our industry, but have never received concrete steps.
In addition, a number of problems have accumulated. In particular, the market is filled with illegal carriers against whom no steps are being taken. There is no compensation for transportation of privileged categories of citizens. Today, a critical situation has arisen regarding the provision of permits for transportation to other countries. This mainly concerns our neighbors.
There is no regulatory framework for the implementation of European standards for market access, and there are no credit programs on preferential terms to replenish the transport fleet. The market for taxis and custom transportation has not yet been regulated. EU requirements for improving driver qualifications are not being implemented,” Klympush said.
Carriers intend to hold an all-Ukrainian forum of motorists, where they want to invite representatives of ministries and deputies. The forum is scheduled for October 8, 2020.
