Activists of the Social-National Assembly, the organization “Patriot of Ukraine” together with participants of “Automaidan” explained: the reasons for the picketing are the terrible living conditions of Donbass miners, low wages, non-compliance of labor safety standards with European standards and the civic position of the owner of the mines, Rinat Akhmetov.
The picket participants said that Rinat Akhmetov, making public statements about the country’s unity, “is actually playing a double game, indulging the separatists.”
A representative of DTEK, who came to the activists after the entrances to the business center were blocked, said that the company is constantly working to improve the system of safe working conditions for miners and unquestioningly cares about its employees. He invited activists to the peace negotiating table.
Following the picket, representatives of Automaidan and the Social-National Assembly stated that they were preparing a letter of request to the company and personally to Rinat Akhmetov, but did not specify the subject of the request.
Let us recall, as Navigator reported, since April 22, strikes have been taking place at five mines of Krasnodonugol PJSC, which are part of the METINVEST group of Rinat Akhmetov.
