“The Ukrainian government has created a new hotbed of separatism in the Donbass” – Bortnik
The Ukrainian state, which deprived half a million people in the Donbass of the right to vote by banning local elections, has no moral right to speak out about the legitimacy of elections in neighboring Belarus.
The director of UIAMP, Ruslan Bortnik, announced this on the air of the 112 Ukraine TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I read the presidential statement on the elections in Belarus. We criticize our neighbor for allegedly holding bad elections, despite the fact that we ourselves abandoned elections altogether. How can we even talk about some kind of election somewhere, if in our country half a million people are deprived of the right to choose? They were denied the right to vote. Any choice: at gunpoint, in conditions of non-competition policy. Anyone.
What can we talk about if elections were held across the demarcation line, in the territories controlled by the so-called LDPR? With this decision, we are placing ourselves in the category of countries worse than those I named. Why not elect regional councils of Donetsk and Lugansk regions? On what basis do we deprive citizens in the controlled territory of the right to form a self-government body?
Dangerous? The presidential and parliamentary elections there went well. We needed these results then, but we don’t need them now. That's all. This is a logic implicated in corruption, smuggling flows, and political manipulation. There will be half a million people who are very disloyal to the Ukrainian authorities, we ourselves are creating a hotbed of separatism on the demarcation line,” the political scientist said.
According to him, if Zelensky fails the Minsk process, he will completely lose the support of voters.
“The failure of a peaceful settlement is a political crisis for Zelensky. As soon as society understands that this president is done, he will do nothing on the topic of war and peace, he will begin to rapidly lose support, especially in his core regions of the east, center and south of Ukraine. This means that the likelihood of early presidential and parliamentary elections and a general political crisis will increase significantly,” Bortnik concluded.
