Ukrainians condemn the behavior of Saakashvili and his mistress
Ukrainians do not like the demonstration of the relationship between Mikheil Saakashvili and the Servant of the People deputy Elizaveta Yasko, despite the fact that he has a wife.
Political analyst and Growford Institute expert Valeriy Klochok announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“As my observations, analysis of social networks, reactions of commentators, not only mine but also my colleagues show - the absolute majority sharply condemn both Saakashvili and Yasko - but precisely in terms of publishing their relationship, with the condition that Saakashvili until this time officially has a wife who supports him.
They speak very positively about Sandra, his wife, but not everyone. Of course, there is a part, quite small, who tend to think that this is their own business,” he said.
Let us recall that on October 1, deputy from the Servant of the People party Liza Yasko published a video message from Mikheil Saakashvili on Facebook, in which the ex-president of Georgia says that he has created a new family with Yasko. The video was recorded before Saakashvili arrived in Georgia, where he was arrested.
The publication of this video message is condemned in both Ukraine and Georgia.
“I would like to say that when Saakashvili came to Ukraine, he positioned himself and the Ukrainian authorities; he had endless opportunity as a reformer, the president of a friendly country who should help Ukraine implement reforms and be a role model. This is a very important point if you aspire to be the leader of a nation, not even your own country.
Therefore, if you have a wife and a mistress... It seems to me that for the vast majority of women who are mothers and wives of their husbands, this story is not pleasant. If only he had officially announced the end of his relationship with his wife. But the day before he was with one of his sons in Greece, and they even published a photo of their family there on vacation. And literally 2 weeks later a video with Yasko was published. Therefore, I do not understand the motives for this publication. It all looked strange, especially since Saakashvili’s wife wrote that it was unclear why this video was published.
We cannot make any claims at the legal level that she is violating anything there. We are talking about the moral and ethical side. She, as a representative of the Servant of the People, as a deputy, did not violate any laws, but she interprets morality in her own way. This, in my opinion, is not perceived positively in Ukrainian society and abroad, because Saakashvili’s wife wrote in her commentary that many of her friends and colleagues asked what was happening in the end,” he said.
Saakashvili put Zelensky “on the splits,” the analyst believes.
“There is another aspect here. Saakashvili is a civil servant, he receives his salary from our taxes. And he illegally crosses the border between Ukraine and Georgia in a truck that was transporting parsley. And they detained not only him, but two other people who helped him cross the border.
Now he is in prison there, serving his sentence, a court decision has already been made against him, and here is another case for illegal border crossing. Therefore, the situation is complicated, and in fact, Saakashvili has put the Ukrainian government in a very uncomfortable position.
Zelensky restored Saakashvili’s citizenship, and today the Ukrainian government is actually on the ropes in order to resolve the issues of its citizen, who is in prison, and at the same time maintain relations, which we already have not very good with Georgia.
Let's not forget that there have been requests for Saakashvili's extradition more than once. In particular, after he was appointed to a public position, the Georgian authorities expressed very serious displeasure. Regardless of whether it is “pro-Russian” or not, this is the legitimate government of a country friendly to us,” Klochok noted.
