Ukrainians urged to help storks
Ukrainians should take care of the storks that returned to Ukraine before the frost ends, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Ukrainian ornithologist Vitaly Grishchenko spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv edition of UNN.

“There is a threat to storks, but it should not be exaggerated. Of course, there is a possibility of dying in such cruel conditions, but storks are strong birds, stronger than we think,” the ornithologist noted.
The main problem for storks returning from wintering in South Africa is not the temperature, but the amount of food they can consume, he said.
“When birds have food, they will survive even very severe frosts. Moreover, the cold in Ukraine will last for several more days,” he explained.
He emphasized that people can independently take care of the preservation of the stork species. To do this, you should organize feeding.
“If people want to help storks wait out the snow and frosts, they can organize feeding. This can be small fish, frozen or fresh, or meat waste. The main thing is that the food is not salted and chopped into small pieces, because storks swallow food whole,” Grishchenko emphasized.
Now the storks are looking for places where they can wait for the final return of spring.
“They are looking for a place to stay. They need open areas of land, unfrozen springs where they can drink and eat, therefore, you can even clear a certain area of snow, helping the storks find a place for themselves,” added Grishchenko.
