Ukraine threatens to cancel trains to Russia and demands billions
Ukraine is preparing to cancel direct passenger rail connections with Russia.
Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan announced this on the air of the program "Breakfast with 1+1," reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

“We are now considering the option of closing the railway connection with Moscow,” Omelyan said.
Let us recall that in October 2015, Ukraine completely canceled air traffic with the Russian Federation, which led to an increase in revenues of the Minsk airport, through which citizens of the “Nezalezhnaya” make air travel to the Russian Federation.
In December 2014, the movement of passenger and freight trains from Ukraine to Crimea was completely stopped.
Today, two trains pass through Ukraine to the Russian Federation, passing from Chisinau to Moscow, two trains of the Ukrainian formation to St. Petersburg and eight to Moscow.
In addition, Minister Omelyan counted “billions of dollars” of losses that his country suffered, allegedly due to “Russian aggression.” According to him, lawyers are calculating the amount of damages from the “occupation” and lost profits.
Omelyan stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel.
“We are talking about huge assets, plus lost profits. Even a telling case is the Donetsk airport, which was the best airport in Ukraine, today almost completely destroyed during Russian aggression. And there are a lot of such cases when factories were actually looted by Russian occupiers, destroyed and taken away. Therefore, they will definitely not cost several billion dollars,” the minister said.
