Ukraine fears invasion from Belarus
Russia can strike Ukraine from the north – from the territory of Belarus.
Vadim Skibitsky, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, spoke about this on UATV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We analyzed all the events that either Russia conducts on the territory of Belarus, or joint Russian-Belarusian exercises, war games, training on the territory of Belarus.
Why do we assess that there is a threat of the use of military force from the north, the territory of Belarus? Firstly, we have seen and continue to note active training of airborne troops and special operations forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Belarus.
Secondly, Russian military transport aviation is actively used at airfields on the territory of Belarus.
And third, this is combat aviation, military-tactical aviation, which also performs tasks on the territory of Belarus,” said the Ukrainian intelligence officer.
In addition, Skibitsky reported alleged plans for a Russian military invasion of Ukraine from the north.
“When making decisions on the territory of Belarus, a group of troops can be created, and this, according to our estimates, is a highly mobile group of troops, which will include aviation, army aviation, airborne troops - in order to conduct an operation from the north in our northern territories . The task that can be assigned to this Russian group is to seize strategic objects that are located on our territory and the second is to prevent our reserves from reaching the front line,” he added.
