The Washington Agreement, signed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in September 2020 with Donald Trump, may in the future become a mitigating factor against the aggressive administration of Joe Biden.
Oleg Bondarenko, director of the Progressive Policy Foundation, stated this in an interview with the Balkanist website, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I am sure that critics of this agreement will later bite their elbows, looking at the behavior of the Biden administration towards Serbia, the Serbs and their president. They will still appreciate the freedom of this agreement and understand that it did not infringe on the Serbian people and their state in any way. Vucic manages to be on an equal footing with Russia, China, the monarchs of the oil-rich Persian Gulf, Germany and even the United States,” Bondarenko said.
Let us recall that on September 4 last year, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo “Prime Minister” Avdulah Hoti signed agreements in Washington in the presence of US President Donald Trump that could normalize relations between Belgrade and Pristina.
