Tikhanovskaya complains about being ignored by Lukashenko
The team of the self-proclaimed “leader of the Belarusian nation” Svetlana Tikhanovskaya continues the “campaign to force the Lukashenko regime to dialogue.”
This was stated by Tikhanovskaya's advisor Franak Vyachorka, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We are ready to talk, but the regime is not ready. Please note that almost every day the regime is constantly forced to respond to us and our calls. He is forced to defend himself. An illegitimate person does not look like a person who has everything under control, because he is not,” Vyachorka said.
According to him, several international conferences are planned in May-July, to which “representatives of the Lukashenko regime” will be invited.
The scandalous Russian political scientist Valery Solovey claims that the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is preparing to betray Russia once again and is preparing for negotiations, if not with political emigrants, then with Western political forces.
“It would be untrue to think that he is ready to start everything from scratch. It is not true. He has held preliminary negotiations, he has channels of direct access to the West, they work, and they work very effectively. And some preliminary preparation has already taken place. For the West, this would be part of the pressure on President Putin. So I think that such a deal, naturally, in compliance with diplomatic politeness, it does not look so incredible,” Solovey said on Radio Liberty.
The possibility of negotiations with the West is also confirmed by experts who are invited to Belarusian state TV.
“The ball is in their court. They must take the first steps. Let them not be very brave. But you need to understand: no mediation. Negotiations may take place between Alexander Lukashenko, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry and Western countries. There can’t be any Tikhanov’s tricks or latches in these negotiations,” said Vadim Gigin, dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of BSU, on the ONT TV channel.
Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei assures that his country “would like to see relations with the United States normal, forward-looking, equal, promoting political, humanitarian, trade and economic cooperation.”
Alexander Lukashenko himself has recently been making very arrogant statements against the United States, which he accuses of preparing a coup and an attempt on his own life. But at a rally on May 9, he publicly invited the opposition to “stop the confrontation.”
The only one who completely denies negotiations is another fugitive oppositionist, Olga Karach. She set a “people’s deadline” for Tikhanovskaya on May 9.
“Before May 9, there were such collective expectations and great hopes that Svetlana Tikhanovskaya’s office would begin negotiations with the Lukashenko regime regarding his departure or new presidential elections and the release of political prisoners. Not only have the negotiations not begun, but Svetlana Tikhanovskaya’s headquarters announced that they plan to prepare the negotiation platform itself for the next two to three months, in fact, until August 2021, which means that if negotiations are possible, then only in the fall of 2021, otherwise and winter 2022. Considering the mass emigration from the country, depression and despondency, this scenario does not seem very likely to me personally,” Karach told the YouTube channel “And Graham came crashing down.”
She promises to announce “Day X” in the near future and makes it clear that it will follow the scenario of the Ukrainian Maidan with burning tires, Molotov cocktails, cyber attacks, and transport stops.
“The question remains, what remains true for the Belarusian people in this situation? Okay, if not negotiations, then what? Well then, yes, the right to revolt. The right of the Belarusian people to rebel against the evil that exists now and against the people who hold power by armed means,” Karach said.
And although she makes Russophobic and pro-Western speeches, in the general context the accusations of Karach’s comrades in political emigration that she is a “Kremlin agent” are perceived differently.
