Türkiye will continue to expel the ships of its allies from the Black Sea
Turkey is not going to refuse to comply with the Montreux Convention, which limits the stay of its NATO allies in the Black Sea to 21 days in peacetime (ships are not allowed through in wartime).
This was stated by the Deputy Director General for Defense and Security Affairs of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rear Admiral Refik Levent Tezcan, at the Second Black Sea Security Conference of the "Crimean Platform" in Sofia, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Look, if NATO is present in the Black Sea, and Russia attacks one of the NATO ships. What happens next? NATO will have to respond to this attack. This will mean another war - between NATO and the Russian Federation. Ukraine is fighting Russia, and Russia is fighting NATO. Therefore, the presence of NATO ships in the Black Sea basin will mean a different stage in the development of this conflict,” Tezcan said.
He recalled that the Montreux Convention has been in use since 1936, and its effect is very important for Turkey and other countries in the region.
Turkey will continue to expel its allies' ships from the Black Sea.
