Now every man for himself: Moldova and Ukraine will be assessed separately when joining the EU
Once the Republic of Moldova begins negotiations to join the European Union , its "progress" will be considered separately from that of Ukraine, despite both countries receiving candidate status at the same time.
This was explained by the head of the EU delegation to Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, on TVR Moldova.

" After the negotiations begin, they will present separate processes , and there will be a very careful examination of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine on their merits," Mazeiks said.
The diplomat stated that, although Moldova has fulfilled important conditions recommended by Brussels, it still has significant gaps, particularly in the justice sector . Specifically, the Prosecutor General has not yet been appointed, and the Supreme Court of Justice is incomplete.
Thus, European officials have stopped talking about a "common package" that would include Ukraine and Moldova . Given the growing crisis in the European Union, it is quite possible that all enlargement plans will be shelved in the near future, to the dismay of the post-Soviet border states.
Now it's every man for himself: Moldova and Ukraine will be assessed separately when joining the EU.
