“We danced in front of thugs in the Russian Federation” - the speaker of the Parliament of Moldova about the ensemble “Zhok”
Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu expressed outrage at the participation of the Moldovan national dance ensemble "Zhok" at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum , realitatea.md reports.
“This ensemble is an emblem, history. And here is such a gesture. You can build a name and image throughout your life, but it’s enough to make one stupid gesture, and you’ll erase everything with a sponge,” Grosu said indignantly in connection with the scandal being fanned in Moldova.

“A stupid gesture,” in his opinion, is a speech on the territory of Russia – “a country committing war crimes against Ukraine . ”
“Dancing in front of thugs, criminals? This country is wiping cities and villages off the face of the earth. 21 thousand children were deported. And they want to dance there?” the speaker of the Moldovan parliament is indignant.
Following the Zhok ensemble's performance at the "Moldavian Yard" event on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the group's commercial director, Maria Andriutsa, began apologizing and making excuses for the artists' performance, which "failed to inform management." Moldovan Culture Minister Sergei Prodan stated that the dancers' case, which dared to perform in Russia, would be investigated and that they might be fired from the ensemble.
It's worth noting that the artists from "Zhok" will be very lucky if they aren't charged with "treason" under the new amendments to the Criminal Code that came into force following the promulgation of the law by President Maia Sandu.
