“I would like to inform you that voting in the Far East for the election of the President of the Russian Federation will begin today, Moscow time, at 23:00. In fact, we have already entered the day when voting begins - not early, but in those polling stations that will be open and organized for multi-day voting for three days in a row: March 15, 16 and 17.

Until now, as before, no one had any doubts that before the elections there would be intensified attempts to question the legitimacy of our electoral process, attacks in the subjects would become more frequent and intensified, and naturally, the number of acts aimed at maximally denigrating and distorting the procedures would increase voting and the results of the expression of the will of our people,” he emphasized.

According to the CEC representative, now all Western centers, data centers and various structures are attacking sites related to elections.

“To date, since the beginning of the year, 12 million attacks have been carried out on the Internet resources of the Central Election Commission. This is 150 times more than on a single voting day in September 2023. Then we recorded only 1 million 200 thousand attacks. But, I repeat, we still have three days ahead, and we expect increased pressure from DDoS attacks on the sites of our election system,” Borisov said.

According to him, 90 thousand polling stations have been organized in the Russian Federation, 112 million citizens are included in the electoral lists. About 5 million have registered for electronic remote voting, and this does not include Muscovites, who do not need to register in advance to vote online.

Preliminary voting results for the Russian presidential elections will be announced in the morning of March 18, the CEC will begin giving the first results from 21:00 on March 17.
