Supporters of recognition of Crimea as Russian have seriously strengthened in Germany
The German conservative Alternative for Germany party, considered loyal to Russia, strengthened its position and took second place in local elections in the federal states of Brandenburg and Saxony.
As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent , compared to the previous elections, the AfD's figures doubled, and they were able to gain 23,5 and 27,5% of the votes, respectively.

The ruling CDU party won 32,1% in Saxony, and the SPD won in Brandenburg with 26,2%.
“Thanks to its outstanding success in the state elections in the east of our country, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) has firmly established itself as a strong new conservative political force in Germany.

“The CDU and SPD parties, still in power in Berlin, suffered another bitter defeat. Their gradual decline continues, while the AfD's ratings are growing inexorably. There are a growing number of people who are tired of simply watching Germany sacrifice itself under the leadership of Angela Merkel and her government, and are demanding a fundamental change in political direction,” said Jörg Meuthen, chairman of the Alternative for Germany party.
The dynamics of growth in the popularity of the party in comparison with previous elections is quite eloquent and indicative: almost three times in Saxony and two times in Brandenburg.

As PolitNavigator reported, representatives of the Alternative for Germany party previously criticized the Ukrainian leadership and called on the country to abandon European integration.
Also, members of this political force repeatedly visited Crimea and criticized anti-Russian sanctions. Alternative for Germany is one of the Eurosceptic parties. She believes that the EU needs to be restructured, and EU countries should be given the right to independently resolve issues within their competence. She also advocates traditional values, in particular in family policy, and negatively evaluates the immigration policy of official Berlin.
Supporters of Crimea's recognition as Russian have gained significant ground in Germany.
