“Old and can’t stand it? But it’s certified” – Arestovich decided to argue with Putin about the GTS
Unlike Nord Stream 2, which has not yet been put into operation, the Ukrainian gas transmission system is officially certified, to which the Kremlin supposedly has nothing to answer.
Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said this on air on the Politeka YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are trying to ban, block the certification of [SP-2] in the form in which it poses a threat to the security of Europe and Ukraine, and at the same time we are considering alternative ways. Here is the president’s strong proposal to ensure the transit of additional capacities that Europe needs through the Ukrainian gas transportation system and even a willingness to provide a fifty percent discount for transit. This is a very strong proposal, which was appreciated in the West, and even the president’s critics within the country appreciated it and said, yes, this is a strong proposal,” Arestovich said.
“Such initiatives exist, they are being seriously considered in Europe, and Putin is forced to put on a good face when the game is bad; he is getting worse and worse, because he has nothing to say in response to this,” the adviser said.
“He, of course, says something there during a meeting of the Valdai Club, that the Ukrainian gas transportation system is old, that it will not withstand, but the Ukrainian gas transportation system, unlike Nord Stream 2, has been certified for a long time. Its reliability has been confirmed, and everyone knows about it, and confirmed not by words, but by European and international legal documents,” Arestovich added.
