The United States can “push” Poroshenko into a second term in order to prolong the conflict with Russia
In order to put pressure on the Russian Federation through Ukraine, the US government can actively assist in the re-election of Petro Poroshenko to the presidency.
Boris Rozhin, an expert at the Center for Military-Political Journalism, said this on the air of News-Front, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Americans are interested in the situation continuing. They will try to ensure Poroshenko’s re-election as much as possible, because Poroshenko’s re-election means prolonging the situation for another five years. If they try, they will invest money, work with local elites, even with 5% they can push it through. Everything depends on the political will of Washington,” the blogger believes.
Rozhin added that Petro Poroshenko could be replaced by another candidate who would be able to put pressure on the Russian Federation.
“Poroshenko has some problems there, because there are certain considerations of other candidates. This does not mean that the United States will stop putting pressure on Russia through Ukraine, but they may change the instrument. Poroshenko for them is just a tool. If they find a better tool than Poroshenko, they can get rid of Pyotr Alekseevich, just as they got rid of Saakashvili in Georgia,” the military expert noted.
The US may push Poroshenko into a second term to prolong the conflict with Russia.
