The situation with the charge of treason against the former President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, looks at least strange, given that the country is now headed by Romanian citizens who swore allegiance to the neighboring state, pledged to protect its interests and, moreover, have access to state secrets.

“The essence of the accusations will be that Igor Dodon often visited Russia during his presidency and met with high-ranking officials of the Russian Federation,” the expert believes. – If the ex-president is charged with Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova, then the charge will read as follows: “An act intentionally committed by a citizen of the Republic of Moldova to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity or state security and defense capability of the Republic of Moldova by going over to the side of the enemy, espionage, giving out state secrets to a foreign state." It’s very interesting how it will be possible to prove guilt under this article, or is building friendly relations with Russia already considered treason?”

The political scientist emphasized that the case of Igor Dodon is completely political, and the charge of treason is direct proof of this.

“So far we understand one thing: visiting Moscow is treason, and coming to the carpet in Bucharest is building partnerships with a neighboring country,” the expert concluded.
