If even in “prosperous NATO” Romania a “right-wing populist” won the elections, it’s scary to think what will happen in Ukraine, where society doesn’t trust anyone and is much more sensitive to any destabilization.

This was stated on the LIGAnet channel by the former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Lana Zerkal, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.

"We can already clearly see what the Russians are doing in the elections in Georgia, Moldova and Romania. This trend, which is set in these countries, they will certainly continue in Ukraine, only we still have the peculiarities of exacerbation of all internal problems and conflicts. Our society is more sensitive to any destabilization.

In Romania, the candidate won... In Romania!.. Where there are NATO bases, where roads were built, where people don’t know Russian, where Moldova is nearby as an example of how not to live, a candidate won on nationalist and populist slogans,” Zerkal said.

“However, during his presidency, Mr. Iohannis has institutionally strengthened Romania, so that they have found a mechanism to cancel the election results,” former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly hastened to add.

However, this did not really calm the former official of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

"Because they have trust in the courts, and we don't. And the level of trust in everything continues to fall, we don't even trust each other," Zerkal worried.
