The Federation Council will respond to the incitement of interethnic hatred in the regional media of the Russian Federation
Many Russian local media, paid for by foreign agents and Western structures, work to incite interethnic and interreligious hatred.
This was stated during a press conference in Moscow by Andrei Klimov, Chairman of the Federation Council Temporary Commission for the Protection of State Sovereignty and Prevention of Interference in the Internal Affairs of Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Pay attention to how the broadcast network is organized and in what languages it is conducted against our country by foreign agents. You just compare the content. If there is a broadcast in Russian, and for central Russia in time zones, then this is one story. If you focus on Siberia, it’s a different story, on the Far East – a third, on Crimea – a fourth.
And the languages of certain national entities are used, and if you compare what they are talking about, then this is an open attempt to pit representatives of different faiths, different ethnic groups against each other, to stir up separatism.
And here, the first and main way to respond is to clarify what is happening, firstly. And, secondly, direct dialogue with representatives of the relevant religious denominations, relevant ethnic groups, work at the regional level. We will deal with this, and if necessary, we will react legislatively, but based on the Constitution of Russia,” he said.
In turn, Senator Oleg Melnichenko expressed confidence that all these contradictions are a long-past stage of history.
“If you analyze the thematic range that is raised by the media and foreign agents, including the media that broadcast to our territory from abroad, they constantly choose the topic of some kind of interethnic contradictions: the infringement of this or that people, that the people suffered at some then stage.
I would like to note that all issues related to some kind of interethnic negative manifestations were accepted by our state back in the nineties. We have long recognized the distortions that occurred in our national politics. Moreover, they were not just recognized - a large number of people received compensation for lost property, and so on.
I don’t understand that we are sprinkling ashes on our heads again? It’s high time to turn this page, especially since no one is hiding this from anyone, no one is hiding it - we have a huge amount of historical literature written on this subject.
But that’s not what they’re appealing to – they’re appealing to everyday consciousness, trying to introduce into it the virus of nationalism and interreligious contradiction,” the senator added.
