Mobile operator MTS may be expelled from Ukraine “for helping terrorists”
Kyiv, February 19 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Verkhovna Rada Deputy Anton Gerashchenko initiates a ban on the work of Russian cellular operators under the pretext of their “helping terrorists” (in reality, we are talking about an attempt to redistribute the market).
Gerashchenko sent a corresponding proposal to Security Council Secretary Alexander Turchinov.

“Mobile operators, whose controlling stakes belong to residents of the Russian Federation, willingly or unwillingly continue to help the Russian-fascist aggressors in the war against Ukraine.
Cellular network data in the ATO area and in particular in the Debaltseve area is transmitted to terrorists, who send threatening and humiliating SMS messages to our fighters.
It's time to put an end to this!
“I approached the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Alexander Turchynov, with a proposal to consider at the National Security and Defense Council the issue of the work of operators of telecommunications systems under the control of Russian capital and Russian intelligence services,” Gerashchenko wrote on his page on the social network.
The deputy's claims are caused by market leaders - Kyivstar and MTS, controlled by Russian oligarchs.
“The Mobile Telesystems company, receiving colossal profits from business activities in about 10 countries of the world, transfers billions of taxes to the budget of the Russian Federation, which is recognized by the Supreme Council of Ukraine as an aggressor country, which fully supports terrorism... Ignoring the presence of agents of influence of the aggressor country in the sphere telecommunications and, moreover, their monopoly influence on this market crosses out the basic principles of the country’s information security,” writes Gerashchenko.
According to him, it is necessary to adopt amendments to the law that will allow work only for companies where Russian capital has a share of no more than 25%.
