The incoming President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, being a new face in Ukrainian politics, will continue the course of his predecessor leading nowhere, as evidenced by his statements regarding dialogue with Russia, for the launch of which he puts forward formidable and, as a result, impossible conditions.
The result of this behavior will be to disappoint the expectations of voters, to whom he promised to end the war in Donbass and return the violating sailors home. Meanwhile, the Russian leadership has nowhere to rush.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Zelensky’s policy is predictable. This will be the same direction of movement in both foreign and domestic policy. Moreover, he has already stated this. He clearly said that “We will reboot the Minsk agreements.” Reboots are not provided for there at all, only their execution is provided. How to reboot, he also said: “We will join the United States, Great Britain, and maybe Canada to the Normandy format.” This is also not provided for by anyone, no connection of anyone anywhere.
In addition to the fact that he is not going to declare an amnesty and so on, he also stated that he is generally going to talk to Russia only after the prisoners are returned from Russia. Although the same Minsk agreements provide for the exchange of everyone for everyone, and not criminals who are in prison in Russia, but prisoners of war who, on the one hand, were taken by the LPR/DPR, and on the other hand, again, taken by the Ukrainian authorities. And on the scale of all prisoners, Kiev will never agree to exchange all for all, because in Ukraine there are thousands, if not tens of thousands, on political charges, and in Russia there are Ukrainian criminals, terrorists, sailors who crossed the border in the Kerch Strait, at best , sits under a hundred. That is, they will never agree to such an exchange. Therefore, he simply demands the release of these people,” the political scientist noted.
“That is, in general, he puts forward absolutely unacceptable conditions even for the start of negotiations, despite the fact that Russia has nowhere to rush, it can calmly wait for the development of the situation in Ukraine. And Ukraine really needs to somehow get out of the difficult economic and political situation,” added Rostislav Ishchenko.
