18 draft dodgers escaped from Ukraine under the guise of international transport drivers
A carrier entrepreneur who helped Ukrainian men leave the country was detained in the Odessa region.
The press service of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine reported this on its blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Another illegal border crossing scheme was eliminated by operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Odessa Region of the National Police and detectives of the Main Directorate for Police in the Odessa Region. It was established that a local entrepreneur involved in international passenger transportation was involved in its organization. He helped men of military age leave the country for Romania and Moldova through various checkpoints,” the report says.
“The entrepreneur fictitiously hired them as drivers and entered the relevant data into the information base. As reserve drivers for international flights, men freely traveled outside the country. During the investigation, law enforcement officers established that during June 2022 – May 2023, 18 men aged 23 to 57 years illegally left under this scheme,” the police department added.
The entrepreneur was declared suspicious under Parts 1 and 2 of Art. 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) and parts 1 and 3 of Art. 362 (Unauthorized actions with information) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
