Moscow – Kyiv, January 30 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Shtamm) – As Kommersant has learned , Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed an order appointing Arkady Rotenberg's Stroygazmontazh as the general contractor for the construction of a bridge from Russia to Crimea. As Rotenberg himself told Kommersant, there is no documentation for the project yet, and its final cost has not been determined. Since mid-autumn, 228,3 billion rubles have been cited as a guideline, and the businessman calls the figure real, but emphasizes that it can still be adjusted. Arkady Rotenberg promises to meet the deadline until the end of 2018, which President Vladimir Putin spoke about, although the newspaper’s sources familiar with the project consider delays inevitable.
The fate of the project’s feasibility study is still unclear, the publication writes. The Volgomost company, which is developing the feasibility study, emphasized in December that it developed the document on time and handed it over to officials. According to the newspaper's sources, the document is now being “finalized.” Rotenberg clarifies that his specialists will still clarify “the bulk of the research and assessments” themselves.
The choice of a general contractor was not easy either. Rotenberg says that the Ministry of Transport considered “more than 70 proposals,” but besides Stroygazmontazh, only one possible builder was known - Stroytransgaz of Gennady Timchenko, who officially abandoned the project in early December. “I don’t want to take on reputational risks,” he explained.
