Russians continue to hope for restoration of relations with Ukraine
Relations between Russia and Ukraine can be described as tense. This is the opinion of 40% of participants in a survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM).

Another 22% of respondents called relations with Ukraine hostile, 13% considered them cool and 11% neutral. Almost half of those surveyed believe that over the past year, relations between the two countries have become neither better nor worse (49%), according to one in three, they are only getting worse (34%).
At the same time, Russians assess the prospects for restoring ties between Russia and Ukraine rather positively: 40% are confident that friendly, allied relations will be restored, almost the same number (38%) believe that sooner or later the interaction between our countries will normalize, but it will never be the same, they do not believe every tenth respondent (10%) is involved in restoring relationships.
Four years after the change of power in Ukraine, about three-quarters of Russians (72%) are following events in this country, including 17% closely.
“Russian society does not lose hope for at least that same “bad world.” It’s hard to say how Ukrainians feel about this; the information we receive about Ukrainian public opinion is extremely contradictory,” said Stepan Lvov, head of the research department at VTsIOM.
The initiative all-Russian survey “VTsIOM-Sputnik” was conducted on February 15-16, 2018. Russians aged 18 years and older took part in the survey. Survey method – telephone interview using a stratified two-base random sample of landline and mobile numbers of 2000 respondents
